The Ren & Stimpy Show Season 3 Review
The third season of The Ren & Stimpy Show is unfortunately weaker than its two predecessors with a lower count of strong episodes.

To Salve and Salve Not! Is an entirely forgettable debut whereas A Yard Too Far is delightfully cartoony and harmless in its plot. Circus Midgets is crazy and weird, but mostly for the good in a typical for the show over-the-top manner. No Pants Today is also fine, but it could have been even better.
Ren’s Pecs is a hilarious episode how gross it is in Stimpy surgically giving his butt to Ren so he can have more muscles. It addresses Ren’s thinness in a hilarious and suitably gross manner. An Abe Divided is a solid episode that benefits from a fine setting well utilized.
Stimpy’s Cartoon Show is okay, but not great. Jimminy Lummox has a terrific premise that had a lot of potential, but the execution left a lot to be desired as it wasn’t as memorable or as funny. Bass Masters is excellent as one of the best episodes here with a terrific premise, cool new characters and a great pond setting very well used for laughs and adventure.
Road Apples is entirely forgettable unfortunately, but Ren’s Retirement itself is a glorious reminder of how old Ren truly is with hilarious dialogue and some very funny situations. Jerry the Bellybutton Elf is amusing and cartoony in a lovely fashion.

Hard Times for Haggis is solidly scripted, but not as entertaining as most of these other episodes here are. Eat My Cookies also isn’t all that great, but Ren’s Bitter Half is very entertaining in a Ren-centric fantasy storyline that really works. I wish it were longer in runtime. Lair of the Lummox is where the two encounter this titular creature and the episode, though not great, is suitably adventurous and gross-out in its imagery.
The third season overall could have been better. It has its pretty good episodes, but it is mostly filled with just solid or even passable parts, thus being weaker than both the first and the second season. I hope they get back on track with the fourth one.
Worst Episodes: To Salve and Salve Not! And Road Apples.
Best Episodes: Bass Masters and Ren’s Bitter Half.
