The Pink Tail Fly (1965)
The Pink Tail Fly Review
The Pink Tail Fly is a 1965 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
A mosquito keeps interrupting the panther’s sleep and then a big battle ensues between the two. Of course, the plot here is very standard for cartoons, and I’ve seen many similar flicks from many different series of shorts. And the ending could have been more epic. But regardless of that, this is such an entertaining and, most importantly, funny short that gets the series back on the quality track.
In particular, the scenes where the two fought were very amusing. The mosquito is both realistic and cartoony, and I loved that mix. The film is very relatable in the panther’s frustrations with this annoying insect, but it’s also superbly animated, and phenomenal in quite a number of its situations. It flies by how fun it really is.
The Pink Tail Fly is one of the better shorts in the series so far thanks to its relatability and many amusing moments.
