The Little Whirlwind (1941)
The Little Whirlwind Review
The Little Whirlwind is a 1941 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is an endearing flick.
Mickey is fighting a tornado here and yes, that really happened. The tornado here is actually personalized and given a family which was silly, but in the cartoon sense it works. Those tornado scenes are so well done that even though they are way too long and the movie is too prolonged, I still was amused by those scenes and I liked them quite a bit overall.
But I loved Minnie here and that ending was so great. I wanted more from her for sure as they are such a great couple that they deserved so many more cartoons during the classic years of the series. The score is also good as is the action, but the animation is a scene-stealer undoubtedly as it’s so polished, very charming and with well executed action moments and a fine-looking Mickey with his clothes being quite memorable.
The Little Whirlwind has its problems such as runtime and pacing, but Mickey is great as is Minnie plus the animation is wonderful.
