The Impatient Patient (1942)
The Impatient Patient Review
The Impatient Patient is a 1942 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty solid flick.
This film is obviously a parody of ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’, but not a particularly successful one as it has a doctor that changes forms, but nothing besides that is even remotely similar to that story. It works much better as a standalone short and it is one of those comedy flicks with Daffy Duck that are a lot of fun, albeit far from his greatest works.
The ending is fun, but overly mysterious. I really liked the Chloe character and how she proved to be quite a competent opponent to Daffy for once. The two shared some amusing interactions and Daffy is reliably great as well. The animation is solid, but nothing truly remarkable. The film is overly rushed in pacing, but with memorable action and some fine gags.
The Impatient Patient has its pacing problems, but it’s mostly quite entertaining and featuring a pretty solid rival of Daffy’s.
