The Hare-Brained Hypnotist (1942)
The Hare-Brained Hypnotist Review
The Hare-Brained Hypnotist is a 1942 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an overrated flick.
Bugs hypnotizes Elmer to amusing results. That’s the premise here and it’s solid for these two, but it ultimately led to a much less entertaining and funny short than their earlier excursions. I loved some scenes here and Bugs is per usual excellent. Thin Elmer is back after a while and that makes this film very important, albeit sad for me as I really liked that fat version of his.
The animation is excellent and the action sequences are particularly well executed here. I liked that the film was different from the other shorts starring the two, but it thoroughly lacked in terms of the humor as none of the scenes are truly funny and that bothered me.
The Hare-Brained Hypnotist is fine in premise, well animated and solidly executed in action, but overall disappointing in humor and memorable imagery.
