The Foghorn Leghorn (1948)
The Foghorn Leghorn Review
The Foghorn Leghorn is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a phenomenal flick.
This is the first true classic coming from legendary Foghorn Leghorn. Henery Hawk is after a chicken once again, but he thinks that Barnyard Dawg is a chicken, and that Foghorn is just a “schnook” which means a fool. Eventually, he finally connects the dots, and drags the chicken with him. I loved this film across the board with the only flaw being the dog who is somewhat underutilized here and too much of a sidelined victim.
But Foghorn is so great, and those lines where he insulted the little guy how slow he is were the funniest. But Henery is the star of this picture and his pronunciation of the word schnook alone cracked me up every time. He’s a rarely hilarious creation in both looks and speech. I also liked the animation, the dialogue’s great and the scenarios mostly played out superbly.
The Foghorn Leghorn features great Foghorn and a star turn from Henery who is absolutely hilarious in this film with such amusing dialogue throughout.
