The Fair-Haired Hare (1951)
The Fair-Haired Hare Review
The Fair-Haired Hare is a 1951 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a tremendous short.
Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam argue over a property, they bring the matter to the highest court and it is said that they have to share it until someone’s death. Then Sam tries to kill the rabbit to continuously failed results. The premise is so great that the execution is admittedly very good, but not excellent as it needed more memorable action set pieces.
But the ending with the cabin in the sky is very amusing and the dynamite sequence is very well done. The poison part is also terrific while the entire first act is a fantastic set-up with a great conflict at its core. Bugs is so great here, but Sam is this time around even better as his very resolute behavior is admirable and a lot of fun. The animation is also superb.
The Fair-Haired Hare is one of the best Warner Bros. shorts from 1951 with a terrific premise, some very funny scenes and both of its iconic characters having memorable moments.
