The Ducktators (1942)
The Ducktators Review
The Ducktators is a 1942 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty solid war flick.
As I’ve said countless times before, I do not care for World War II cartoons as I find most of them overly timely and thus incredibly dated nowadays. Although The Ducktators is certainly like that too as it is concerned with WWII personalities and it’s rarely truly funny, it’s still much better than your usual such entry and I mostly liked it to an extent.
That’s because Hitler is so well portrayed and quite amusing, and the same goes for the other important people here. I really liked this being the farm world and him being the duck, the character designs are excellent and the animation is especially polished here. The film could have been funnier, but the highlights are the fun beginning and particularly that funny, memorable ending.
The Ducktators is better than most war flicks even though it’s far from great. The animation is stellar and some scenes are quite effective.
