The Coo Coo Bird

The Coo Coo Bird Review

The Coo Coo Bird is a 1947 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a very forgettable cartoon.

Woody has trouble sleeping as clocks and other devices constantly wake him up. Yes, this is one of those setups that we have seen so many times in other series, notably in Betty Boop and Disney did it as well. Thus, it felt too familiar and stale by this point. It also did not fit this character particularly well.

It’s a well made movie nonetheless. There is a lot of ingenuity in some of the gags and the clock is particularly well utilized as a tormentor to the protagonist. The animation is excellent too and Woody is as memorable as always. But still, the plot left a lot to be desired in this far from exciting short.

The Coo Coo Bird has its memorable moments and solid animation, but it left a lot to be desired in its plot that is overly familiar.

My Rating – 3.5
