The Bulleteers (1942)
The Bulleteers Review
The Bulleteers is a 1942 animated short film from Fleischer Studios. It is the fifth entry in the Superman series.
Superman in this film must fight a villainous gang who are equipped with a bullet-shaped rocket car. Once again, the animation is the real star of this film as the design of these rocket cars is superb and the entire movie looks highly polished and simply beautiful to watch. I also liked the ending, though the comedic remark was lacking this time around.
Superman himself is great, but I did like that the people themselves tried to stand against these machines before he could help them which was a nice change in pace. What this movie lacks is the momentum in storytelling as it’s all rather thinly written and it needed a bigger spectacle. Yes, I do think that these films need more fantastical elements undoubtedly.
The Bulleteers is standard in its plot, but it does have solid action and once again polished and remarkable animation.
