The Brave Little Bat (1941)
The Brave Little Bat Review
The Brave Little Bat is a 1941 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty sweet flick.
This short introduces a new character who is a bat friend to Sniffles, a scared blabbermouth. Again we get a blabbering character which is really getting tired by now and certainly the various back and forth between the two was overwhelming as the film is way too talkative for such a short runtime. It needed more action in it.
I did still like the bat as he was well designed and he got some pretty good moments here and there and the interactions between the two are endearing. The cat also posed some threat, but was unfortunately underutilized and came way too late in the game. The short is again too slow and uneventful, but reliably superbly animated with polished, professional color animation.
The Brave Little Bat definitely is well animated and endearing, but too slow, overly talkative and simply uneventful.
