The Adventures of Andre and Wally B.
The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. Review
This animated short film is Pixar’s first ever project and was probably the first ever CGI animated short film which is quite an achievement.
As for the movie itself, it is cute and sweet, albeit too simplistic and definitely too short. The conflict between the two and the chase is charming and the characters are also rather effervescent and their design is quite fun, although dated naturally.
As for the animation itself which is the focal point here, time was naturally not kind to it, but it is nonetheless outstanding. What they did here with computers is so incredibly impressive having in mind that this is 1984 we’re talking about. The colors look dated, but it is for the time extraordinary really. And it is the major reason to check this short film out, just to see how Pixar was always ahead of everyone else and how they literally created computer animation.
Overall, The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. is nothing too remarkable with a plot that is too simplistic and the running time that is too short, but it is still an endearing and charming film that benefits mostly from its stupendous, groundbreaking computer animation.
