Terror on the Midway (1942)
Terror on the Midway Review
Terror on the Midway is a 1942 animated short film from Fleischer Studios. It is the ninth entry in the Superman series.
First and foremost, let’s get the negatives out of the way. The movie is in the group of Superman shorts which are just good, but not great owing to its lack of fantastical elements and overall standard nature to the action and just passable storyline where circus animals escape and it is up to our hero to fight them and put them to their place.
But I did love that ‘King Kong’-reminiscent final fight between him and that giant, cool gorilla. I also liked the beginning and the ending as they are both quite fun. The animation is exceptional again and the animals in particular look superb. The action is also quite competent. It’s a solid movie that was unfortunately the last entry in the series made by Fleischer Studios. They truly had a great run.
Terror on the Midway has a weaker plot, but the animation is so strong and some of the action is quite good.
