Tea for Two Hundred (1948)
Tea for Two Hundred Review
Tea for Two Hundred is a 1948 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is such a fun flick.
Donald fights a bunch of ants who try to steal his picnic, but he deserves it as he started this fight in the first place. Whenever you have a short center around picnic and insects, the sense of unoriginality seeps in. We’ve seen countless cartoons with this same premise and this one doesn’t differentiate itself enough.
With that being said, I still really enjoyed the cartoon for its fantastic gags. Seeing Donald get all worked out is always hilarious and here the final gag was hugely amusing. The animation is quite polished and beautiful while the emphasis on the ants and their side of the story was also interesting. The movie was nominated for an Oscar in 1949.
