Sleepy Time Possum (1951)
Sleepy Time Possum Review
Sleepy Time Possum is a 1951 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a weak flick.
Forest-dwelling possums, Ma and Pa O’Possum, are frustrated with their son, Junior, who is hanging from a tree by his tail, sleeping, instead of doing his chores. Yes, this is a very odd short which suddenly introduces these new possum characters who do not make much of an impact at the end of the day.
I did love the animation, though, and the character designs which are very charming, and old-fashioned. There are some cute moments to be had here as well, but overall the plot is slim, and the humor is nothing to write home about. I would personally like for Merry Melodies to move past these one-off characters by now.
Sleepy Time Possum has great animation, but very forgettable plot and characters.
