Wynken, Blynken and Nod (1938)
Wynken, Blynken and Nod Review
Wynken, Blynken and Nod is a 1938 Disney animated short film and one of the coziest and most childlike Silly Symphonies.
This film is wonderfully childlike and endearing. I found its first half to be very dull, the running time is overlong this time around and the plot is certainly slight, but the characters, or character to be exact, is very likable and the film is so wonderful to watch. The ending is also perfect and really satisfying with its twist.
The film is just okay in terms of storytelling, but in technical terms, it is marvelous. The use of multiplane camera is excellent, the score is just so beautiful and fitting and the animation is of course beautiful. I really liked the character design, but also the colors and its overall smooth and polished look. It really does look phenomenal and its craftsmanship is evident. It is in the end an archetypal Silly Simphony, but still one of the better ones of its type.
