Shuffle Off to Buffalo (1933)
Shuffle Off to Buffalo Review
Shuffle Off to Buffalo is a 1933 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a weak, typical excursion.
The setting is interesting here and previously not seen in this series. The film is also admittedly very well made. It is well animated with good designs and it is quite well scored. But Merry Melodies are usually well made technically so that wasn’t surprising. But it was unfortunate that other than that, the film is so bland and dull.
Everything here is lacking from the plot which is highly forgettable and basically non-existent to the characters which are also not at all memorable. It also again features some references to the 1930s that I myself did not get and that frustrated me. But it doesn’t have any truly memorable gags or scenes in it leading to one pretty weak Merry Melodies entry.
Shuffle Off to Buffalo is well animated and scored, but weakly plotted with dull characters and no memorable gags.
