Scent-imental Over You (1947)
Scent-imental Over You Review
Scent-imental Over You is a 1947 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a strong entry in this series.
This short follows a hairless dog who wants to enter a dog show so he gets himself a fur coat, but accidentally a skunk one. She scares everyone away, but Pepe Le Pew arrives and is smitten by her. At the end of the cartoon, he reveals that that is a costume and that he’s really a dog, but then the dog costume is taken and it’s him all along. That was a hilarious, perfect end to this short which made me laugh how inventive it is.
I really liked this short and I loved that dog. She was so cute and heartbroken and the interactions between the two were priceless. But the movie is never as hilarious as it could have been despite its ending as the rest is overly rushed and short and not enough time was given to this otherwise great premise.
Scent-imental Over You is hilarious in its finale and the protagonist is wonderful, but the short is terribly rushed unfortunately.
