Saps in Chaps (1942)
Saps in Chaps Review
Saps in Chaps is a 1942 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very subpar flick.
This is another one of those setting-oriented shorts that don’t work all that well. This time it’s a western and I honestly found its storytelling particularly uninspired and simply uninteresting. The narration is also overwhelming, though the voice is great. The animation is also pretty dull and black-and-white cartoons from this period are really weakly animated and thankfully their days are numbered.
The only very good aspect in this film is admittedly the score which is fun and very well incorporated into the picture. But otherwise the movie is quite boring and it doesn’t really belong in the Looney Tunes series as it doesn’t have any stars in it whatsoever so the categorization as such is baffling.
Saps in Chaps is weakly animated and badly plotted. Although well scored and solidly narrated, it’s a boring, entirely subpar effort from the studio.
