Robinson Crusoe, Jr. (1941)
Robinson Crusoe, Jr. Review
Robinson Crusoe, Jr. is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is an okay flick.
This film centers around Porky Pig and his attempts with Friday to flee from the natives of the island. Now obviously, this movie is very racist in its portrayal of Friday as a stereotypical black man. However, I still found his character fun and I liked him quite a bit despite everything.
But Porky unfortunately returns to being forgettable and underutilized as here he is a less important, less emphasized character and really anybody else could have played this role and it would have stayed the same. The animation isn’t great and the same goes for the score. Some of the action is fine and the ending is nice as are some amusing lines of dialogue, but mostly the short is uninspired.
Robinson Crusoe, Jr. definitely has its amusing moments and some fun lines, but it’s uninspired in terms of storytelling, score and animation.
