Rabbit Stew and Rabbits Too! (1969)
Rabbit Stew and Rabbits Too! Review
Rabbit Stew and Rabbits Too! is a 1969 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a rehashed short.
Quick Brown Fox tries to catch speedy fast Rapid Rabbit. The duo go about some antics similar to those of the Coyote and Road Runner. These two characters were meant to start a whole new series of cartoons, but the studio closed eventually, so these never came to be. They were pretty much rehashed versions of the Coyote and Road Runner with the movie’s muted color palette and style of gags being recycled from those iconic shorts.
With that being said, they copied from the best, which resulted in one of the more enjoyable shorts from the late 60s. The characters were memorable, the animation is somewhat pleasing to the eye and the score is pretty good. Some of the gags worked, but most were either lazy or forgettable. The rabbit with the bike horn was quite memorable and the fox was also amusing. A part of me really wishes that we got more of these two in the Looney Tunes series.
