Rabbit Punch is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a solid flick.
Bugs Bunny battles a man named The Crusher in a ring in this boxing cartoon. I usually dislike boxing cartoons as I dislike the sport itself and this certainly did not appeal to me as the better Bugs Bunny classics did, but still it’s more than solid and it has its moments for sure.
Most of it is standard boxing and wrestling fare, but I did like that finale quite a bit where Bugs breaks the fourth wall and literally breaks the film. That was so funny in typically crazy Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies fashion. The Crusher himself is your standard stupid big man, but Bugs has his ingenious moments here making the movie worth a watch overall.
Rabbit Punch is a typical boxing fare which benefits from a strong Bugs Bunny presence and a fun ending.
