Rabbit of Seville (1950)
Rabbit of Seville Review
Rabbit of Seville is a 1950 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is an iconic piece of animation.
The Barber of Seville by Rossini accompanies this short which is in my opinion the most iconic in its barber sequences, though the rest is also very strong. The opening is slow, but atmospheric and the ending itself is pretty good, albeit not as great as the rest of the film which is filled with amazing chase after chase. The weapon chase was brilliant in execution, and the whole action here is of the highest quality.
The same goes for its animation which is fabulous. The score accompanies the visuals and action beautifully and flawlessly. Bugs is fantastic here, and Elmer is also great. This is probably their finest and most famous pairing with that barber sequence being unforgettable and a childhood favorite of mine. I also loved its mostly silent approach and the crescendo quality to it.
Rabbit of Seville is flawlessly animated and scored, fabulous in its action scenes and downright iconic in every way.
