Rabbit Fire (1951)
Rabbit Fire Review
Rabbit Fire is a 1951 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a classic entry in the series.
Yes, this one is important for being the first flick to have both Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in it. And the end result is glorious as the interactions between these two are truly priceless. Elmer Fudd is hunting them as the two try to convince him it’s either rabbit or duck season. The ending is pretty nice itself, but the highlights are in the first half when the whole concept was so incredibly fresh.
Some of the moments in the second half weren’t as great (I could not get how Elmer saw through their disguises so rapidly for instance), but the short is so well animated, it features terrific dialogue and it also has great action throughout. In particular, the vegetarian twist was very memorable, and the shooting scene was so funny. Bugs here outwitted Daffy a lot in very amusing ways whereas Daffy continues to evolve from a mere screwball to a more complex character.
Rabbit Fire is a classic Looney Tunes short featuring Bugs, Elmer and Daffy. It has great action, dialogue and humor.
