Puss n’ Booty (1943)
Puss n’ Booty Review
Puss n’ Booty is a 1943 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty good short.
A woman has a problem with her pet birds as they constantly vanish and she has to buy a new one. Unbeknownst to her stupid mind, the pet cat is eating them. Eventually, the newest bird outsmarts the cat and, in a crazy twist finale, actually eats the cat himself. Yes, that finale was so weird! And weird in the best way possible. It’s unexpected, unforgettable and honestly the best thing in an otherwise not so great short.
Yes, the first half isn’t all that great. The premise I found fine, but I’ve seen similar stuff before in this series alone. I liked the bird character, but the cat is forgettable and the woman needed a bigger role. This is the very last black-and-white Warner Bros. short and the animation here is definitely very pleasant and memorable for their last effort. Every cartoon from now onwards is going to be in color.
Puss n’ Booty is simply plotted, but it works as the last black-and-white Looney Tunes entry thanks to solid animation and a particularly crazy ending.
