Puppy Love (1933)
Puppy Love Review
Puppy Love is a 1933 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a very sweet short.
Mickey arrives to Minnie’s house on a date and Pluto meets Fifi there, a new female dog of Minnie’s. So the film follows these four sweethearts as they enjoy themselves, fight, break up and eventually reconcile. Fifi is cute and Pluto is endearing per usual, but this is all about the two mice who are both wonderful here.
I loved that the film featured more dialogue than usual and the lines spoken between the two are all great with the lines about men and women being quite funny. I love their accents and comic timing and I would like for them to speak more. Their romance is wonderful, the ending is beautiful and the animation is also solid. I just wish that the middle section was more interesting as the film is way too long at over eight minutes.
Puppy Love definitely is long, but sweet with an excellent relationship between Mickey and Minnie superbly realized here.
