Princess of Jerusalem (2021)
Princess of Jerusalem Review
Princess of Jerusalem is a 2021 French short film directed by Guillaume Levil. It is such a sweet, wonderful story.
Working at the office during the day, taking care of his father at night: Peter is a simple and endearing bachelor, and this is his routine. For the past few weeks, he has been chatting online with a young woman. One day, she asks for his help. He starts sending her money in an obvious red flag move. The first half of this movie is overly repetitive and slow, but the second half is where it truly reaches greatness.
It turns out in glorious and highly unrealistic, but beautifully cinematic twist that the princess is real and that the poor guy wasn’t used. His kindness paid off and the movie’s optimism was just heartwarming to witness. That sequence where a huge limousine arrives with the princess was just incredibly moving and it elevated the film to a fairy tale, but a beautiful one regardless. The acting is also terrific and the movie is very well scored and directed.
Princess of Jerusalem is a wonderful short film that features an unrealistic story, but it’s difficult not to get swept by its gorgeous fairy tale ending.
