Porky’s Pooch (1941)
Porky’s Pooch Review
Porky’s Pooch is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty good flick.
A dog named Sandy is starving and he goes to Porky’s apartment and starts begging him to adopt him while Porky continually tries to throw him out. This is a very interesting short that for once presents dogs as smart and manipulative and that was an interesting change in pace. Sandy is a very memorable, fast talking and conniving character in a typical sly Looney Tunes fashion.
I loved seeing Porky get such a big role for once. He is not as major as Sandy, but still is the star of the film. He did get a couple of really amusing lines and nice moments. The film is definitely memorable and entertaining, but I do wish that it was funnier as the humor could have been stronger. And the situations are not as rich as the premise demanded.
Porky’s Pooch has a strong premise and good characterization, but it lacks in humor and action.
