Porky’s Last Stand (1940)
Porky’s Last Stand Review
Porky’s Last Stand is a 1940 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very entertaining entry.
This is one of those inconsequential, disconnected and seemingly oddly edited short meaning that the story goes from one point to an entirely different one and the previous storyline is lost and forgotten. That was certainly a problem here, but the short is so fun that it could easily be forgotten. The ending is great, but I also loved the various food jokes as well as that ‘Ferdinand’ reference which stole the show for me.
Porky’s Last Stand features an excellent use of Porky and he is very amusing here with his signature stuttering. However, Daffy Duck steals the show per usual with his crazy antics and I loved that chase with the bull as well as the mice gag. The film actually features a lot of writing cards and written jokes which is interesting and they mostly pulled them off as they were quite funny.
Porky’s Last Stand is disconnected, but a lot of fun with excellent Daffy and Porky both being great. It has a bunch of great gags too.
