Porky’s Hare Hunt (1938)
Porky’s Hare Hunt Review
Porky’s Hare Hunt is a 1938 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very important short.
It features the very first appearance of Bugs Bunny in the series though he is barely recognizable, he is called Happy Rabbit and he has the maniacal laugh of future Woody Woodpecker. But still it is definitely him in a prototype form and I can’t wait to finally have him arrive and that would be around two years from this cartoon.
As for the film itself, I have to say that it got too mean-spirited and repetitive, but still it is a very strong film and seeing Porky Pig get tormented by this crazy rabbit was mostly a lot of fun. It needed more truly hilarious gags, but most are still quite good, I loved the animation and everything with the gun was the highlight along with that very funny and mean ending.
Porky’s Hare Hunt is an important Looney Tune that introduced Bugs Bunny and it did that really well with a couple of hilarious gags.
