Pokémon Season 17 Review
Pokémon: Black & White: Adventures in Unova and Beyond is the 17th season of Pokémon and a pretty solid conclusion to this entire arc.

This season is interesting for getting back to the basics and by basics I mean less tournaments and fights and more adventures and villains. Of course that is both done for better and for worse. Let’s first talk about the negatives.
It lacks in terms of fights. Yes, some battles here are amusing and memorable, but for the most part the season is almost devoid of them which is unfortunate. And my major gripe with this season is that it came after the previous season which was the tournament season and thus this one came off as anti-climactic. They should have switched places for sure.
But Team Rocket is back! Yes, finally we get a good emphasis on this legendary team of villains and in this season they get a lot of episodes for themselves and are actually back on their shenanigans and trying to steal Ash’s Pokémon almost every episode.
I particularly loved that episode with Emolga as it was hilarious. Emolga is amusing and how it tricked Team Rocket was so funny. But I also loved the last episode as finally their boss acknowledged their good work on defeating Team Plasma.
That episode is also great for making you excited for the Kalos region which I do have solid hopes for. Ash’s saying that he will finally beat that region’s tournament made me laugh, but at least he’s continuing trying.

As for Cilan, I am not going to miss him as he was entirely forgettable. As for Iris, she was much better and her interactions with Ash pleasantly reminded me of his relationship with Misty. But I do wish the next companions are better developed and more memorable.
Overall, this season is solid and quite entertaining in terms of Team Rocket villainy and some fine adventures and Pokémon. It is anti-climactic and lacking in fights, but it gets its job done when it comes to preparing you for the Kalos region. And I have to say that the Unova region provided us with the best arc since the very first Kanto region. Very good and refreshing are these four seasons.
Worst Episodes: Danger, Sweet as Honey, Butterfree and Me and Go, Go Gogoat.
Best Episodes: Capacia Island UFO, Team Rocket’s Shocking Recruit and The Dream Continues.
