Pokémon Season 16 Review
The sixteenth season of Pokémon is Black & White: Adventures in Unova. It’s easily one of the best seasons in the show’s entire run.

“I’m glad we got rid of that annoying Team Plasma“

Yes, this season kicks ass. Now obviously, here and there we get once again a dull adventure episode with boring ‘mon and tired scenarios including per usual some fillers and some forgettable, even annoying characters. But that is the problem every season of this show shares. It’s just that here that those episodes were more obvious as they significantly slowed down the pace and interrupted an otherwise stellar output.
The output is pretty good because it is short. This season has just twenty five episodes which is very little for this particular show and thus it flew by pretty quickly and was mostly a lot of fun to watch. I wish more seasons were like this one both in quality and in quantity.
The tournament episodes were the highlight of the first half of the season. I just loved each and every fight and Ash for once fought like a champ, though eventually he had to lose. Everyone had a good time and although lacking in true opponents and villains, I still liked the fights for they were stupendously executed in terms of action and very well utilized in Pokémon attacks and powers.
But what is even better is that villain epic saga which is the best part of the season’s second half. These episodes are so terrific and particularly the final four episodes are some of the best in the show’s history as the mythology there was excellent and especially the action/adventure tone and approach suited the show so well.

Reshiram is such a powerful Legendary Beast both in power and in intriguing looks. Some of the other creatures are also memorable. Team Plasma is one terrific, truly excellent team of villains with an excellent look to them and a great goal and story. They are easily the most menacing villains so far. But Team Rocket is also excellent and getting more competent during this particular arc. And I just loved how they teamed with the good guys to fight Team Plasma. Very strong stuff, those last episodes.
So in the end, this season is easily the best one since the third season and yes, it took quite a while, but finally we got a season of this show which can rival the very first and still best arc. The tournament and villains here really added a lot of strength to the entire affair.
Worst Episodes: Beauties Battling for Pride and Prestige, Lost at the League and The Fires of a Red-Hot Reunion.
Best Episodes: Mission: Defeat your Rival, Meowth, Colress and Team Rivalry, Ash and N: A Clash of Ideals and Team Plasma and the Awakening Ceremony.
