Playful Pluto (1934)
Playful Pluto Review
Playful Pluto is a 1934 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is an entertaining flick.
Pluto gets stuck on a fly paper in this mischief filled cartoon. Before that, the duo gets attacked by bees and the dog swallows a hose. Now admittedly the plot is almost non-existent here as it’s just a gag after gag revolving Pluto and the film is simply too long, but there is no denying that it’s a pretty fun cartoon.
Mickey is good here, but this is Pluto’s moment to shine and he did just that wonderfully. He by now has a distinct personality and this short is important for utilizing on him so much and even ending in a classic film ‘Sullivan’s Travels’ which was a great honor. Pluto here is the funniest with that paper near the end as that extended sequence was brilliantly executed and so well thought out, but the rest of the cartoon ain’t shabby either as it’s filled with a lot of amusing gags.
Playful Pluto is long, but very funny and entertaining featuring Pluto at his absolute best so far.
