Pizzicato Pussycat

Pizzicato Pussycat Review

Pizzicato Pussycat is a 1955 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an okay short.

The cartoon is about a talented piano-playing mouse becoming a slave to a house cat. My problem with this particular short is that it felt so old-fashioned as if it were coming from the forties or even thirties. By now, I had come to expect more from this series and here they got back to a safe, familiar storyline that lacked thrills or laughs.

Still though, the animation is wonderful, charming and very cozy. The set is very well realized and the characters are also quite endearing. I definitely liked the couple and how well they were utilized, but the cat and mouse are so much fun themselves and the ending of the cartoon is particularly entertaining.

Pizzicato Pussycat opened this year for Warner Bros. cartoons in a not that great manner. The animation and characters are good, but the story not so much.

My Rating – 3.5
