Pinkcome Tax (1968)
Pinkcome Tax is a 1968 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
In medieval times, Pink tries to rescue a peasant who is thrown into prison for being too poor to pay his taxes. This is one of those highly authentic shorts which utilize its premise and setting to the fullest degree. Well, almost at least, as some moments including the running are repetitive, but for the most part this is a tremendous, highly entertaining and even funny shot.
I loved that the peasant is The Little Man. He is not only amusing, but actually endearing and likable here for a change. The scenes where Pink tried to save him and reduced his bump on the head were not only amusing, but also undeniably cute. It’s the best cartoon when it comes to the relationship between the two. Pink is so terrific here, and I loved the inclusion of Robin Hood in the finale. The animation’s stellar, that guard is a badass opponent and the entire prison is beautifully utilized into the action scenes.
Pinkcome Taxi is easily one of the best shorts in the entire series thanks to a terrific premise and setting very well utilized with great action and humor.
