Pinkadilly Circus (1968)
Pinkadilly Circus Review
Pinkadilly Circus is a 1968 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
The Pink Panther comes to the aid of a henpecked husband (the Little Man) who pulls a nail out of his foot. The husband then uses the panther against his disapproving wife. The Little Man has rarely been better utilized than he was here. And it’s a different kind of role for him. He’s not the panther’s adversary. Rather than that, he uses him for his benefit, to make his wife more bearable.
I did not care for the ending itself, but otherwise the set-up was great, and the movie’s amazing animation, score and action go hand in hand in creating one truly joyous experience. The humor is excellent, I loved the wife, and all of the scenarios worked so well. In particular, the first scene in the house was remarkable, and the hole sequence is also very funny.
Pinkadilly Circus is one of the best Pink Panther shorts thanks to a different use of The Little Man, and very strong action as well as humor.
