Pink, Plunk, Plink (1966)
Pink, Plunk, Plink Review
Pink, Plunk, Plink is a 1966 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
This is one of the best Pink Panther entries released up until this point undoubtedly. It follows the protagonist interrupting an orchestra conductor who conducts Beethoven, but the panther wants to play his theme on the violin. Though it starts off much slower and less eventful, it builds to an extremely satisfactory finale.
I am of course talking about the cameo from the great Henry Mancini himself. That was absolutely brilliant and so unexpected that it really surprised me. I loved also the entire final sequence with Pink Panther conducting his theme, which was great. The conductor is also quite memorable in his frustrations, and of course the animation is superb with the highlight being that pink violin of his.
Pink, Plunk, Plink is one of the greatest shorts in the series thanks to strongly utilized moments and a great ending with its unexpected cameo.
