Pink-A-Boo (1966)
Pink-A-Boo Review
Pink-A-Boo is a 1966 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
In this very strong entry for the series, Pink has trouble with mice who steal all of his food from the fridge and take it to their hole in the wall. Eventually, he disguises himself as a cat, but the mice bring the dogs to protect them. The ending itself and the whole emphasis on musical instruments did not appeal to me, but that dog angle was otherwise great.
And the mice are so smart here. I like how they look and squeal here, and the animation in particular of the outside street is so atmospheric and moody. This series really manages to have a different, more relaxed atmosphere thanks to that truly stellar, simple hand-drawn animation with a great emphasis on colors. The score is also great, and some scenarios here are terrific, but not all are uniformly great.
Pink-A-Boo is such a good cartoon featuring feisty mice and such a terrific animation throughout.
