Pink 8 Ball is a 1971 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
The Pink Panther loses his basketball and tries to get it back in this very derivative, dull movie. The animation is good, especially that done on the basketball as it behaves very realistically in terms of physics. The first couple of scenes are also quite good and fun.
But later on, the movie turned into a tiresome affair where the ball just kept on escaping Pink’s clutches, but not in any truly entertaining manner. Most of the scenes were uninspired, and simply a ball cannot be as fun of an obstacle as a mosquito for instance, leading to a movie that was problematic in premise first and foremost.
Pink 8 Ball looks good, but it is an uninspired affair that features a very mediocre premise.
