Page Miss Glory (1936)
Page Miss Glory Review
Page Miss Glory is a 1936 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is such a good entry.
The story and the animation are where this movie shines as the characterization and humor are lacking. The main character is memorable and the girl of course is great, but the others are forgettable and the film lacks in terms of the humor as it is only really funny in the ending which was hilarious.
The plot where a teen bellhop awaits the arrival of the famous titular character and imagines that he is adult and that she is adult but she turns out to be a kid is great. The twist ending is terrific, the dream structure is so well utilized here and I just loved the setting of this cartoon as the hotel has been sparsely utilized before by Warner Bros. The animation is simply fantastic. Not only is it Technicolor, but it is so well designed in beautiful imagery filled with great world building and a great use of color.
Page Miss Glory is one of the best Merry Melodies so far thanks to artistic animation and such a good storyline.
