Out of Scale Review

Out of Scale Review

Out of Scale is a 1951 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty funny and imaginative flick.

Donald has a model of a train and a city in his garden. He decides to move a tree in his path that doesn’t match the scale of the model, not realizing that it is Chip and Dale’s home. This is a very imaginative short that utilized all three characters stupendously well. The third act left a lot to be desired. It did not end the movie in a memorable or funny way and it was just disappointing, but the rest of it was so good.

I loved this brilliant idea of Donald building an entire miniature town and actually indulging the chipmunks and eventually even tricking them into believing that snow is falling etc. That entire sequence was ingenious and hilarious. Donald was very good here, but the reactions from Chip and Dale stole the show from me as they were priceless. The animation is terrific and this miniature town was so intricately detailed and memorable.

Out of Scale has a weaker ending, but the rest of it was phenomenal. This was a superb premise beautifully executed and such an imaginative story.

My Rating – 4.2
