Orphan’s Picnic (1936)
Orphan’s Picnic Review
Orphan’s Picnic is a 1936 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is such a weak entry.
Donald and Mickey are on a picnic together with some mice orphan children who harass the poor duck to no end. This is another one of those orphan cartoons and it’s one too many this time around. They have always seemed unnecessary and familiar to each other and in an era of story-driven quality cartoons, it seems even more pointless to rehash on this setup.
Mickey is literally here in one scene which was odd to witness. But Donald is as great as ever and surely it’s always a lot of fun to follow his annoyed facial expressions. This movie has some scenes where he obviously shines plus the quality of the animation is definitely high, but the action itself left a lot to be desired and the mice children themselves are rather annoying.
Orphan’s Picnic has its moments and Donald is reliably great, but it’s an annoyingly disappointing entry from 1936 which is overly archaic by now.
