Orphan’s Benefit (1941)
Orphan’s Benefit Review
Orphan’s Benefit is a 1941 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is an uninspired flick.
This film is basically a shot by shot remake of the 1934 original film which really bothered me. Apparently Walt wanted to make more of these remakes, but he thankfully changed his mind as he has always been a man who favored originality instead of rehashing old ideas. This one’s pretty much a rehash unfortunately.
And I really like the original, even more so upon revisiting it in this remake. It’s a fun film with a great emphasis on annoyed Donald who’s always the funniest Donald. However, even the added Technicolor did not save this film. Yes, it made it prettier to watch, but it’s still literally the same film to its detriment.
Orphan’s Benefit has a good animation, but that’s pretty much it. The rest of it is an almost shot by shot remake of the original flick.
