Of Thee I Sting (1946)
Of Thee I Sting Review
Of Thee I Sting is a 1946 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid cartoon of its type.
This one is a parody of all those war propaganda films during the early forties and although it’s thus yet another WWII short, it’s in the end less about the war and more about mosquitoes as it follows their planned attack on a human. Although more could have been done with this premise as the third act is particularly disappointing, I was still satisfied with the end result.
The narration is very funny at times and I also liked the animation and the score. I found the emphasis on weaponry and strategy excellent as the film is very detailed in their planning and attacking. They managed to make them look both amusing and menacing and thus it’s successful parody in a way.
Of Thee I Sting could have been more effective, but overall it is solid, amusing and particularly strong in its details and narration.
