Odor of the Day (1948)
Odor of the Day Review
Odor of the Day is a 1948 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid flick.
This is a Pepe Le Pew short where the skunk doesn’t chase a girl. He isn’t a lover and he barely speaks even. Needless to say, that was a big hurdle for this movie to overcome and it did overcome it somewhat and barely. It’s a forgettable short when all is said and done, and this character deserves a better storyline.
But still, pairing him with Wellington was overall a pretty solid idea as the dog is quite amusing and the two share some very interesting sequences here including the chases and especially the entire third act which is the most memorable part of an otherwise lacking in momentum film. The finale is great and charming for sure.
Odor of the Day has its great moments and this pairing is solid, but Pepe still needs better and funnier material than what he got here.
