Ocean’s Twelve Movie Review
Ocean’s Twelve is a 2004 heist film directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. It’s a passable, but ultimately very disappointing sequel.

Yeah.
Really?
Well, I mean, you know, only from the neck up“

I really disliked this film’s plot. Although the story of the first movie wasn’t all that great, it was so much better and more coherent, leading to such a better film. But this one is simply not good. It’s not fun, it lacks excitement, it lacks logic and it’s simply way too convoluted and incoherent for my liking.
The same goes for the heist elements. I agree with the critics that the third act’s twist isn’t great and the overall heist isn’t good and the film lacks entertainment value in those elements. It’s simply never a particularly fun or memorable movie.
However, the characters remain very strong and it’s the only fine element to this movie. George Clooney is still excellent as Danny Ocean and I simply loved those scenes where they made fun of his age. Hilarious.
Brad Pitt and Matt Damon unfortunately are underutilized and Julia Roberts especially. She’s never as memorable as she was in the previous installment. Casey Affleck is okay, but I did really like Don Cheadle once again and he was quite funny.
Yes, Ocean’s Twelve is mostly a funny movie, especially in a couple of hilarious sequences. The humor is easily the best and only terrific thing about this film and if anybody wants to give it a chance, the humor reason should be the best one. It’s a very witty, amusing film.

But overall, it’s simply not good. It’s not terrible either, but far from good and a big step down from its predecessor. It’s again very well shot, well scored and well made across the board, but the plot itself is horrible and the action is underwhelming.
Ocean’s Twelve definitely has solid characterization once again and the humor is particularly strong with a couple of quite funny scenes, but this is otherwise a very weak sequel which is very inferior to its predecessor due to overly complicated, incoherent plot and a lack of memorable heist action.
