Mutiny on the Bunny is a 1950 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a good flick.
This really is perfect timing as I have just rewatched this titular masterpiece and now I am seeing its Looney Tunes parody. And it honestly came as a disappointment. The film is good, don’t get me wrong. But it’s simply never as great as this source material demanded. I particularly found the second half lacking in memorable situations and scenarios.
I did like that Yosemite Sam tried to manipulate Bugs for once in that memorable sequence, but of course Bugs steals the show throughout with his carefully planted words that really anger Sam who acts as a solid Captain Bligh. I found the animation and score really good, and the action can be really terrific here. But the humor could have been better overall.
Mutiny on the Bunny is competent throughout, but it could and should have been even better given its great potential.
