Mouse-Warming (1952)
Mouse-Warming Review
Mouse-Warming is a 1952 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid flick.
This one stars Claude Cat. He tries to catch the mouse, and in particular his method includes writing letters to the little guy, pretending to be another mouse, mainly a love interest. I found that very authentic, and never before have I seen this particular way for the cat to catch the mouse. That made the film unique, and those letter scenes are all fantastic. The ending involving Hector the Bulldog is also stellar.
However, the short is so messy in execution as the letter scenes are too languid in approach, and the rest of the film even more so as it lacks energy and excitement to it. The animation is okay and the score too, but nothing especially remarkable. The mouse is also fine, but Claude is more memorable himself.
Mouse-Warming is an overly languid, but solid flick which benefits from a very original letter storyline.
