Mouse Mazurka (1949)
Mouse Mazurka Review
Mouse Mazurka is a 1949 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very weak flick.
This is yet another weak Sylvester film, and he really needs better treatment sooner rather than later. He himself is fine and memorable in some moments here. The same goes for the animation and the score which are both quite competent. The movie is well-made across the board.
But the mice characters aren’t all that interesting, and the entire storyline is okay for five minutes, but not for eight minutes, leading to a very protracted runtime that’s most definitely felt in the end product. I liked the music here, but the overall humor and storyline are subpar.
Mouse Mazurka has its moments and Sylvester himself is fine, but the story is weak and the runtime is needlessly long.
