Mickey’s Revue (1932)
Mickey’s Revue Review
Mickey’s Revue is a 1932 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a very weak, but important entry.
This film is very important for finally introducing Goofy to the audience. Goofy here is seen only a couple of times throughout the cartoon, but he actually elevates this weak material and is very memorable and amusing. His look is memorable and his laugh is of course iconic and very funny. I loved him and I can’t wait to see more of him.
But other than his presence, Mickey’s Revue is a very weak entry overall. Of course you have Mickey, Minnie and the others from the gang, but they are all underutilized and forgettable. The film once again is a rehash of musical routines and animals wracking havoc. Both of those were seen many times before and are by now giant clichés.
Mickey’s Revue is definitely a very weak film and typical in its story, but it serves as a fine introduction to Goofy nonetheless.
